THREE FEET FROM GOLD

Three feet from the gold story

An uncle of R. U. Darby was caught by the "gold fever" in the gold-rush days, and went west to DIG AND GROW RICH. He had never heard that more gold has been mined from the brains of men than has ever been taken from the earth. He staked a claim and went to work with pick and shovel. The going was hard, but his lust for gold was definite.

After weeks of labour, he was rewarded by the discovery of the shining ore. He needed machinery to bring the ore to them surface. Quietly, he covered up the mine, retraced his footsteps to his home in Williamsburg, Maryland, told his relatives and a few neighbours of the "strike." They got together money for the needed machinery, had it shipped. The uncle and Darby went back to work the mine.

The first car of ore was mined and shipped to a smelter. The returns proved they had one of the richest mines in Colorado! A few more cars of that ore would clear the debts. Then would come the big killing in profits.

Down went the drills! Up went the hopes of Darby and Uncle! Then something happened! The vein of gold ore disappeared! They had come to the end of the rainbow, and the pot of gold was no longer there! They drilled on, desperately trying to pick up the vein again— all to no avail. Finally, they decided to QUIT.

They sold the machinery to a junk man for a few hundred dollars, and took the train back home. Some "junk" men are dumb, but not this one! He called in a mining engineer to look at the mine and do a little calculating. The engineer advised that the project had failed, because the owners were not familiar with "fault lines." His calculations showed that the vein would be found JUST THREE FEET FROM WHERE THE DARBYS HAD STOPPED DRILLING! That is exactly where it was found!

The "Junk" man took millions of dollars in ore from the mine.

Lesson from the story:

1. Never give up on your dreams.

Whenever you feel like giving up, remind yourself you might be just 3 feet from achieving what you really want, once you start, don't give up on it, keep going no matter how difficult it might become, always remember, you are just three feet from Gold. Whenever you feel like giving up, always remember the three feet from Gold story.

Divine Direction; How Ikana Daniel Akpata met her husband Daniel Akpata

How I met my husband Daniel Akpata on Radio because I listened to the holy spirit.

Daniel ikana Akpata left handed

Mrs Ikana Daniel Akpata shared how she met Mr Daniel Akpata(the only true, blunt, crazy love doctor). She was led by the Holy Spirit and that is divine direction. This story is filled with suspense, humour and real fact and I believe you will enjoy it. Not only that, you will learn a great lesson from her story. Her story goes thus:

Divine direction is simply when we act in full compliance with the directive of the Holy Spirit. As children of God, we know that the Spirit of God can reveal itself in many ways. These include dreams, visions, a true prophet of God, or through the still small voice, but He is not limited to these ways alone.

Ikana Daniel Akpata

Slowly recovering from the Suicide attempt with the support of my family and loved ones, I still needed to do more so that I won't remain depressed because of what happened that lead to the attempted suicide. In the process, I remembered that I didn't complete my Industrial Training on Radio and Television Presentation at TVC, (Now I understand why I didn't complete it). I had suddenly lost interest Completing the 6 months IT I was to do, that was 2008. Fast forward to 2011, I had to complete it or else I would not be certified as a professional Radio and Television Presenter. So one of the recovery processes recommended was that I must go out to do what I love doing. That was when the Industrial Training came in handy. My elder Sister; Stephanie Asuquo Effiong was solidly behind my decision to do this. But I didn't know how to go about it, because I don't think TVC would have accepted me back after I blanked out just like that.

Ikana Daniel Akpata/therealitynation

I began to ask for divine direction, I didn't just want to make a mess but I wanted something new to happen in my life which will wipe away all my tears and pain. I prayed for a soul mate who will add value to me and also respect God's work in my life. Then I remember an old friend who was a presenter with LTV(Lagos Television), I reached out to him. Unfortunately, he wanted to have sex with me before helping connect me for IT. WOW, so even with all that he heard I went through and how I survived suicide, all he wanted before helping me was to sleep with me. Jeez! For days I pleaded with him, he insisted on what he wanted and bluntly told me even the GM will still sleep with me before helping me.

I was mad in my spirit and thought, how can I belittle the directions I have received already from the Holy Spirit to go directly to LTV that the path was cleared already for me. I told my Sister and she encouraged me to go that I would find a favour. I took my faith alone with me the following day, straight to LTV, I walked straight to the receptionist and requested to see the General Manager. Without any protocol, I was ushered in. Just like that, hmmm, things were falling in place.

Ikana Daniel Akpata and Daniel Akpata

I greeted him and told him I was directed to see him for my IT. He asked; who? and I told him; the Holy Spirit. I'm sure he must have thought there's something wrong with me. He smiled and said he liked me a lot and was going to help me, but unfortunately the entries have closed for IT students, but he will give me a letter to the General Manager of Eko Fm.

He gave me a note without any strings attached, not even a handshake, I remembered how my old friend had rubbish his boss before me. I went to Eko Fm that same day and asked to see the person the note was addressed to, I can't forget that day ohh! I was directed to his office and we got talking, he talked to me like he's known me for many years. He told me entries have also closed for IT students but he was going to break protocols for my sake. Hallelujah! He signed my letter and assigned me to Double O of Eko Fm Morning Belt. Remember I met my husband the Love Doctor at Eko Fm, during my IT.

The then Assistant General Manager of EKO FM assigned me to work under Double O, a beautiful and soft soul woman who loved and accepted me. It's wasn't an easy task focusing on the job as my number one companion was DEPRESSION. No one could see the pains I felt. I managed so much to go through the shifts every day except for Saturdays and Sundays. Five months down the lane, I haven't really achieved so much and it looked like I didn't hear well from God. Haba! five months and one week, I never meet this man, what's happening?. And the Holy Spirit still reminded me it wasn't time all I need was to remain focused. My request will be granted.

The only true blunt crazy love doctor; Daniel Akpata

Gracefully, I continued my Industrial Training. Two weeks to the end of my IT, I was informed that I have to understudy one guy called Daniel Akpata. Hmmm, I see! and he was mostly on night duties. Haba! but IT students weren't allowed to work night shifts nah, why will I be posted for Night. But I was also informed he would do afternoon shift the day I was to start work with him. I have a choice to continue with him or not if I'm not comfortable. Okay, this was fine by me. August 2011 (10 years exactly) I meet him one warm afternoon to understudy him. Unfortunately, he was just behaving like he owned EKO FM. I was like "who be this one". "Shebi he no no say I no send am, the wahala I get pass all this him fine boy shakara he dey showcase". He no send me, me self no send am. Then I saw his long nails, what! oga what the hell are you doing with a Long nail? That's the first thing I said to him, then I saw his Facebook account with over 1,000 friend requests pending. I was like "what is even your own self. How can you leave over 1,000 friends request pending, you are too full of yourself" I thought.

Daniel Akpata and his wife Ikana

Then he turned for the first time and looked at me, he said something I will never forget. He said to me "I SEE SO MUCH PAIN AND HURTS IN YOUR EYES, YOU WANNA SHARE WITH ME?"! Really, that was ice-breaking! He could see beyond my beautiful and 'gragra'! He was the first person who actually wanted to hear me and also help me. I was teary but relieved. I was ready to share for the first time everything I have gone through all my life. When his shift ended, we took a walk to the restaurant to talk about everything. For the first time, I felt I was with the right person to unburden without being judged. I told him EVERYTHING ABOUT ME! I MEAN EVERYTHING! THE GOOD! THE BAD AND THE UGLY! I told him everything in case he is interested in me. So he knows I was a handful yet blessed. I told him my dreams and aspirations, My vision and purpose. My strengths and weaknesses and WHO I AM!

Daniel and Ikana Akpata

For hours he listened with tears in his eyes, he didn't interrupt me. I saw a man cry for my pains, I felt his genuine love towards me. He looked me straight in the eyes and Said "I WANT TO MARRY YOU!." In the name of God do not mock me, sir, after everything you heard, you want to mock me. He looked me in the eyes and said again "I MEAN WHAT I JUST SAID!, I will not give up on you, I have prayed to marry a woman like you." How on earth will someone pray to marry a woman like me?. I told him I wasn't interested, I needed time to heal. He promised to help me heal first, before anything. Then he gave me his number. I dial the number and it turned out I had the number already and he is THE LOVE DOCTOR! I was a fan of his show, SOMETHING FOR SINGLES! Hell no! This guy want. to chop and go. I will not accept it, he has a sweet mouth.

Ikana and Daniel Akpata

Let me stop here! We can all guess what happened. But if you all want me to continue, I will gladly continue this story! I love you all.

Lessons from her story

1. Learn to listen to divine direction

2. Always seek Gods help whenever you need it

3. Do not trade divine direction with a false claim.

4. See God above your challenges.

Daniel and ikana Akpata with their daughter Daniella

You may want to ask, what is divine direction?

Divine direction is receiving and acting in full obedience to the directive of the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit is our comforter, guide and counsellor. Do not hesitate to seek help from God whenever you need it because he will surely send his angels to help you.

Fela Durotoye; success Story and biography

Fela Durotoye; success Story and biography
Mr Nigeria; Fela Durotoye

Adetokunbo Olufela Durotoye is a business consultant, speaker and leadership expert. He is the Chief Executive Officer of GEMSTONE GROUP; a leadership development institution. A non-governmental organization with a distinct mandate to raise a generation of leaders that are empowered and motivated to operate with Nation excellence.

Fela durotoye; a business consultant, leadership expert and motivational speaker. How did Fela durotoye make it?

Just like you and I, Fela durotoye has gone through hard times. Life is a journey that everyone must travel, it is filled with ups and downs and some inevitable pains. Fela Durotoye is a man of vision that values growth. His success and achievements started from somewhere.

He once shared this as a post on his Instagram page. He shared a powerful throwback photo from when he and his wife walked down the aisle in 2001. He made it clear that their beginning wasn't a smooth sail.

The post says; our wedding (2001), we had 40 guests attending for obvious reasons. I got married to my wife(Tara Durotoye) in 2001, living in a one-room in Lagos. I was 30 years old and had started my firm V.I.P CONSULTING from my room; where I had a bed(covering a hole in my rug), a wastebasket and a chair.

My wife(Tara Durotoye) had to go to her parent's house every day to take a bath because she couldn't use our community toilet and bathroom. And that is where our dreams began(a one-room apartment).

Fela Durotoye, the founder of GEMSTONE GROUP

We've been through so much and have come so far solely by the grace of God and a determined work ethic.

So wherever you might be in your life today, even if your life seems as bleak as this wedding picture of ours, know that God hasn't even gotten started with you. God bless you.

Having a best friend

Short stories with lessons; Things to look out for in someone you want to take as a friend

Two friends greeting by shaking

Once upon a time, two friends were walking through the desert. At some point of the journey, they argued and one friend slapped the other one in the face.

The one who got slapped was hurt, but without saying anything, wrote in the sand;

“Today my best friend slapped me in the face.”

They kept on walking until they found an oasis, where they decided to take a bath. The one who had been slapped got stuck in the mire and started drowning, but the friend saved him. After he recovered from the near drowning, he wrote on a stone;

“Today my best friend saved my life.”

The friend who had slapped and saved his best friend asked him;

“After I hurt you, you wrote in the sand and now, you write on a stone, why?”

Beautiful picture of love made by hand and paint

The other friend replied;

“When someone hurts us we should write it down in sand where winds of forgiveness can erase it away. But, when someone does something good for us, we must engrave it in stone where no wind can ever erase it.”

Lessons from the story

1. Don’t value the things you have in your life. But value who you have in your life.

2. One who offends you today can be a helper tomorrow. Learn to forgive!

There are great benefits to good relationships. And if an individual has a good friend, such being is fortunate. Not all friends are true friends, you will agree with me after reading the meaning of friendship below. Now, what is friendship?

Friendship is a state of enduring affection, esteem, intimacy, and trust between mostly two people or more people at times.

Friends Unite

Friendships play an important role in healthy human development and adjustment throughout human life.

Friendship is a dyadic relationship because it involves a series of interactions between two individuals known to each other. It is not mandatory because two individuals may choose to or not to form a friendship with each other. There are no formal duties or legal obligations to one another, anything done for the other always come from free will and is not obligatory.

A genuine friendship is the one in which both individuals has about the same amount of power or authority in the relationship, unlike parent-child relationships. one of the primary goals and reasons of friendship is companionship.

Don't mix it up, friendship is different from peer groups, cliques or acquaintanceships.

Friends holding each other by shoulder

Children tend to define friendships in terms of interactions, such as “we play together.” That is called playmates and not friends. They frequently develop emotional and affective functions in their interactions with their playmates which make them choose them as friends.

More so, unilateral friendships, in which only one child of a pair nominates the other as a friend, are quite common in early childhood. To be factual, about half of nominated preschool friendships are unilateral.

People tend to select friends based on some criteria when they become an adult, unlike when they were a child.

However, what are the things to look out for in someone you wish to go into friendship with.

THINGS TO LOOK OUT FOR IN SOMEONE YOU WANT TO TAKE AS A FRIEND

Since there are three main types of friendship which are:

Friendships of pleasure

Friendship of utility and

Friendship of virtue.

It is very important to be careful when choosing a friend even more than you do when picking beans. That is why you should know the things you should look out for in someone you want to take as your friend:

It can be hard to recognize when a friend is weak in some areas, it is always possible to improve both yourself and your friend as you carry on with each other.

Below are the things you should look out for in someone you want to take as a friend:

1. A compassionate individual

Being compassionate is when an individual can be empathetic and genuinely there for another on a daily basis and during times of need. Anyone you wish to become friends with must possess this value.

Friends having fun

To be compassionate means to be able to recognize the suffering of others and then take action to help. The person you wish to take as your friend must show kindness and must be able to encourage you if need be.

2. A Trustworthy individual

If you don't trust a fellow, don't bother going into a friendship with him/her. Being able to have trust and confidence in your friend is one of the most important prerequisites of a strong relationship because true friendship means you can count on one another. A trustworthy friend is the one you can talk to about a personal issue you are facing, knowing that what is said will stay between the two of you and that they will not judge you or the circumstance, and will not go about using the information against you.

3. A honest individual

You should go into friendship with an individual who is open and plain. Honesty is required for you to build a strong and successful friendship with anyone because, at the end of the day, people are usually more hurt when the truth is concealed than by the truth itself, whatever it may be. The individual who is consistent with what they say and what they do.

Friends having fun and laughing

4. Individual that is ready to bring value to the table

Friendship can be energy-draining when the one you call a friend always come to you, take your things, eat your food and then disappear again. I am not referring to material things alone, it cut across materials, intellectual, financial and even spiritual. Another thing that you must take into consideration is the kind of person such individual is, can he/she inspire or help you in one way or the other?

If all he/she only discuss with you are movies, reality shows, issues of other people and all other unproductive things, you need to stay far away from such individual.

Make friends only with someone who challenges you to do more, not someone who only hails you of your past glories.

5. Someone who is independent

It is not advisable to go into friendship with someone who always needs the company of a friend. If such individual always needs constant attention from you, you may not be able to cope with each other. Both of you should be able to live independent of each other.

Friendship is totally different from choking yourself. Friends should give themselves some privacy to avoid troubles.

You must be able to reciprocate all these qualities, meaning that you must possess them as well. You cannot want good and refuse to be good. Be ready to be what you expect from people. Wishing you the best of luck!

Friends celebrating happy moment

REASONS WH YOU NEED A GOOD FRIEND

  1. Emotional Support: A best friend is someone you simply connect with in ways that others can’t understand. They get you without you having to fully explain yourself or a situation. More than that, you know they are there for you, even if you are half a world apart.
  2. Self-Esteem Boost. If you have someone in your life who thinks you are important, who wants your opinion and values your company, makes you feel wanted. Such friends company will boost your self-esteem and your level of self-worth.
  3. Reliability. These are the friends you can rely on through thick and thin. When the going gets tough they will be by your side. They are there with a shoulder to cry on, a listening ear, or to join you on any adventure.
  4. Safety. A good friend will notice if you are suddenly acting unusual or if something isn’t quite right. And that can save you from the unknown.
  5. Loyalty. Having the confidence to trust another person completely is a wonderful thing. A good friend will always have your back; they will be honest with you just as it was pointed out in the qualities a good friend must possess.
  6. Trust. You can count on these friends to be open, honest and loyal. They will keep shared confidences to themselves, and will not speak negatively about you to others. You can trust that this friend will be there when they say they will
  7. Fun. Good friends will always spark up fun times and make you feel out of this world. Fun contribute to a healthy lifestyle because you will be able to ease out stress and other forms of troubles.

REV. SAM ADEYEMI'S SUCCESS STORY

REV. SAM ADEYEMI'S SUCCESS STORY

Rev Sam Adeyemi praying

The success story of Reverend Sam Adeyemi is an inspiring and interesting one. This is how he narrated his story:

“I can still remember clearly, I felt like my ministry was stagnated and things were not moving for me. So I decided to pray. I remember that day in April 1994, my wife and I went to Lekki beach, fasting and to pray. I was praying, asking God about the next level, where do I go from here?” God spoke to me and asked me to continue with the prayer and fasting. After days, He said I should stop the fasting but go ahead with the prayer and I obeyed."

“Sometime in July that year, the Lord spoke to me clearly one morning that He was going to take me to the next level of ministry, to teach Biblical success principles. He said I would not be able to do the things He wanted me to do in my former pastorate, because He was asking me to teach success on radio, television, tapes, publications and seminars. In addition, I was to establish a church that would help people discover and release their potentials. I got the vision for Success Power International and Daystar Christian Centre on the same day. I remember I called a group of people, just a few friends and shared the vision with them."

“I started first on radio. Later, I began to talk to a few people about the church aspect of the vision. On November 18, 1995, Daystar Christian Centre was inaugurated. The inauguration was an interesting period in that we didn’t have the required resources and we could not afford the type of accommodation we were getting. Hotels, banquet halls or some duplexes were between N200,000 and N250,000 per annum and they wanted us to pay for two years."

“We were about taking one small place on the street we lived, then we stopped because we had serious doubt in our heart. Eventually, the inauguration was held at Eko Chinese Restaurant on Allen Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos, on the fourth floor."

Rev Sam Adeyemi

“Interestingly, I was carrying along my radio audience, telling them about the transition of my life. We had quite a large crowd that day. Long after that, it became a bit tough to pay the bills. I was on radio, paying N7,000 every week for the 15 minutes broadcast and then we were paying N13,000 per week for the use of the restaurant. Then, the radio station doubled the rate for the broadcast and we couldn’t cope. We took broadcast off Raypower  to OGBC2. We needed some breathing space, so we could keep on the church. However, we couldn’t afford to pay for the restaurant too regularly. I remember clearly, the day I got to church in the morning and met my workers outside. They told me they had not been allowed into the hall. I went in and spoke to the manager, who was playing games with his friends in the hall we were supposed to use for our service. I told him to let us run the service and pay him afterwards with the offering but he declined."

“Eventually, we reached a compromise. Our service was between 9 and 11am, but said he would take his money at 10am. I felt once we had started the service, he won’t be able to stop us. Ten minutes to 10am, an usher came with a message that a man was threatening to shut down the generating set. Rather than take offerings at the end of the service, I took over and took the offerings and quickly paid him. After three months, we knew we had to move. We then moved to Coker Village, Alausa, Lagos which was mistaken for the one in Iganmu area of Lagos. When people wanted to come to our church in taxies, they took them somewhere else in Lagos. It was so remote. It was a dirty environment. Each time I went to church, it was muddy all around and people sharing the building with us would sometimes play loud music during our service and we would plead with them to stop."

"I dreamt one Saturday morning that we moved into a new location. I saw us dedicating a building. I saw Bishop Oyedepo and his wife planting a tree in the place. It had fresh leaves and while he pronounced blessings, I saw people rush to that location. There was a large crowd within a few minutes and then we were through with the occasion."

"When I woke up, I knew it was a vision from God. I asked God how do we turn this into reality. He asked for three weeks of prayer and fasting. We obeyed. Few days before the end of the fast, we saw, ‘To Let’ on a warehouse on 71, Oregun Road (now Kudirat Abiola Way). That was how we got our present church office."

MORE ABOUT THE SUCCESS OF REV. SAM ADEYEMI, the founder of Daystar Christian Centre which is located at Ikosi Road, Lagos.

More about the success story of Sam Adeyemi

The ministry started five services within a short period when it first started. Fellowship exploded, attendance increased, financial resources also increased astronomically. The church is now worth over 2 billion Naira. Its core strength lies in leadership development and training.

What really shot the ministry into limelight was Success Power, an outstanding motivational programme on radio and television. The messages are tailored to mold and influence attitudes and perception with a view to enhancing productivity. It has followership of an average of five million. There are three categories of partners. The Royal Class are partners who make a minimum contribution of N200 monthly. The Gold Class make a monthly contribution of N2,000. The Corporate Class is for organizations and they contribute N20,000 monthly. This is different from the donations made by individuals and corporate citizens. The Success Power Ministry brings in an average of 10 million Naira every month.

He also has another ministry(Daystar Academy). This is the resource development school of the church. The school has five levels and each addresses different needs and purposes. The levels are graduated from 100 to 500. The school runs in session of five weeks and holiday for three weeks each. The directorate is headed by John Afolabi. The ministry is largely responsible for training role models. They equally run discipleship programmes. Due to the large number of students, the school nets in excess of 200 million Naira per annum.

Furthermore, Pneuma Publishing Limited is an information resource management company duly registered by the ministry in 1995 under the Corporate Acts Commission of Nigeria. It was pioneered by the Managing Director, Pastor (Mrs.) Nike Adeyemi. The business was established just for the passion for books and information. She started by selling local and foreign books that had aided her growth and development while growing up. This, she did, within the living room, through encouragement from her husband, Rev. Sam Adeyemi, who later wrote the book, Start With What You Have. Then, a shop was acquired simultaneously as Sam Adeyemi’s published books and audio messages which later became best sellers. Pneuma Publishing House became the sole publisher of Adeyemi’s books which rakes in a monthly income of 10 million Naira.

The ministry is also blessed with Daystar Leadership Academy which is a leadership/management development school. It was established in January 2002. The school runs the basic and advance certificate courses in leadership. The school has turned out over 6,000 graduates since inception. It has a reputation of equipping CEOs, entrepreneurs, employees of various cadre, students, etc. The ministry is worth 100 million Naira.

There are great individuals in these fields, listen to their tapes or read their books and do something that taps from your strengths for a minimum of an hour a day and watch yourself grow tremendously.

QUESTION: Why do we have more young writers committing suicide while the older writers are breathing the struggle?

ANSWER: Most of them started writing because they were told they can earn from it.

Not for the love of it or passion. Older writers kill boredom, and depression through writing, the writing was a healing to their aching heart, but to the present-day writers, it plunges them to loneliness and eventually suicide because it was to them a craft and it must pay. The squabbles are all the fall out of fail expectations.
