A Lady Calls Off Her Wedding Few Days To Her Wedding Day

A Lady Calls Off Her Wedding Few Days To Her Wedding Day - Real Life Story

SHE WROTE..........👇
les hugging each other

I never wanted to bring this here but I have to, I am a type of person who likes to keep my relationship away from social media but this is for clarification purposes.

This was my secondary school classmate who I thought I knew to an extent. On December 28, 2020 he did the 1st and 2nd stage in my family marriage list which bride price happened to be on the 2nd stage which he paid. After he paid my bride price he started maltreating me.

2021 was hell for me that at some point I left home, after everything we settled around November 2021 which he promised he will never beat me again. But still nothing CHANGED.
Story of the lady who called off her wedding few days to the wedding

This is my reason why I am CALLING OFF the Traditional Marriage (Igba Ngwu) and White Wedding ceremony between me and DAVID OKIKE OFF. (Beating me was not part of the agreement in our Marriage)

This Saturday should have been my traditional and white wedding ceremony day.... I supposed to be happy but I am not.

For couple of months now I have been going through a lot.
Wedding called off

I have been in a TOXIC RELATIONSHIP for OVER a YEAR now.. I am aware that this may be a shock to many people, especially people from my Home Town. My supposed husband HIT and ABUSE me in any slightest provocation, just small misunderstanding without minding what condition I am into.

Because I have chosen ME and I will not live my entire life facing DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. My supposed husband is full of RAGE, BEATING me with his Belt, Stick, Broom is his DAILY ROUTINE, Many a times he had lifted his hammer 🔨 on me  and this Monday last week just because of little misunderstanding he beat me mercilessly and on the process of it he rushed into his mother's kitchen for a cutlass, when I noticed he's going for a weapon I locked the door behind him which he forcefully opened, both his mother and Sisters and some neighbors were begging him not to cut me with the cutlass ...  With all these things and more I am fed up.
A Lady Calls Off Her Wedding Few Days To Her Wedding Day

I AM CALLING OFF THE WEDDING AND TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE (IGBA NGWU) BETWEEN ME AND DAVID OKIKE that supposed to hold on this Saturday 16th, April 2022.

Please to my family and friends I am so sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you 🙏🏿

But I will not end up with a man who always promise that if I didn't kill him, that he will kill me.
I am still suffering from unstoppable headache I sustained from the head injury he gave me 3 weeks ago.

The "bride price paid" will be Returned in due time.
Please Respect my choices. Thanks and God bless you all.
©ADA UBURU

Divine Direction; How Ikana Daniel Akpata met her husband Daniel Akpata

How I met my husband Daniel Akpata on Radio because I listened to the holy spirit.

Daniel ikana Akpata left handed

Mrs Ikana Daniel Akpata shared how she met Mr Daniel Akpata(the only true, blunt, crazy love doctor). She was led by the Holy Spirit and that is divine direction. This story is filled with suspense, humour and real fact and I believe you will enjoy it. Not only that, you will learn a great lesson from her story. Her story goes thus:

Divine direction is simply when we act in full compliance with the directive of the Holy Spirit. As children of God, we know that the Spirit of God can reveal itself in many ways. These include dreams, visions, a true prophet of God, or through the still small voice, but He is not limited to these ways alone.

Ikana Daniel Akpata

Slowly recovering from the Suicide attempt with the support of my family and loved ones, I still needed to do more so that I won't remain depressed because of what happened that lead to the attempted suicide. In the process, I remembered that I didn't complete my Industrial Training on Radio and Television Presentation at TVC, (Now I understand why I didn't complete it). I had suddenly lost interest Completing the 6 months IT I was to do, that was 2008. Fast forward to 2011, I had to complete it or else I would not be certified as a professional Radio and Television Presenter. So one of the recovery processes recommended was that I must go out to do what I love doing. That was when the Industrial Training came in handy. My elder Sister; Stephanie Asuquo Effiong was solidly behind my decision to do this. But I didn't know how to go about it, because I don't think TVC would have accepted me back after I blanked out just like that.

Ikana Daniel Akpata/therealitynation

I began to ask for divine direction, I didn't just want to make a mess but I wanted something new to happen in my life which will wipe away all my tears and pain. I prayed for a soul mate who will add value to me and also respect God's work in my life. Then I remember an old friend who was a presenter with LTV(Lagos Television), I reached out to him. Unfortunately, he wanted to have sex with me before helping connect me for IT. WOW, so even with all that he heard I went through and how I survived suicide, all he wanted before helping me was to sleep with me. Jeez! For days I pleaded with him, he insisted on what he wanted and bluntly told me even the GM will still sleep with me before helping me.

I was mad in my spirit and thought, how can I belittle the directions I have received already from the Holy Spirit to go directly to LTV that the path was cleared already for me. I told my Sister and she encouraged me to go that I would find a favour. I took my faith alone with me the following day, straight to LTV, I walked straight to the receptionist and requested to see the General Manager. Without any protocol, I was ushered in. Just like that, hmmm, things were falling in place.

Ikana Daniel Akpata and Daniel Akpata

I greeted him and told him I was directed to see him for my IT. He asked; who? and I told him; the Holy Spirit. I'm sure he must have thought there's something wrong with me. He smiled and said he liked me a lot and was going to help me, but unfortunately the entries have closed for IT students, but he will give me a letter to the General Manager of Eko Fm.

He gave me a note without any strings attached, not even a handshake, I remembered how my old friend had rubbish his boss before me. I went to Eko Fm that same day and asked to see the person the note was addressed to, I can't forget that day ohh! I was directed to his office and we got talking, he talked to me like he's known me for many years. He told me entries have also closed for IT students but he was going to break protocols for my sake. Hallelujah! He signed my letter and assigned me to Double O of Eko Fm Morning Belt. Remember I met my husband the Love Doctor at Eko Fm, during my IT.

The then Assistant General Manager of EKO FM assigned me to work under Double O, a beautiful and soft soul woman who loved and accepted me. It's wasn't an easy task focusing on the job as my number one companion was DEPRESSION. No one could see the pains I felt. I managed so much to go through the shifts every day except for Saturdays and Sundays. Five months down the lane, I haven't really achieved so much and it looked like I didn't hear well from God. Haba! five months and one week, I never meet this man, what's happening?. And the Holy Spirit still reminded me it wasn't time all I need was to remain focused. My request will be granted.

The only true blunt crazy love doctor; Daniel Akpata

Gracefully, I continued my Industrial Training. Two weeks to the end of my IT, I was informed that I have to understudy one guy called Daniel Akpata. Hmmm, I see! and he was mostly on night duties. Haba! but IT students weren't allowed to work night shifts nah, why will I be posted for Night. But I was also informed he would do afternoon shift the day I was to start work with him. I have a choice to continue with him or not if I'm not comfortable. Okay, this was fine by me. August 2011 (10 years exactly) I meet him one warm afternoon to understudy him. Unfortunately, he was just behaving like he owned EKO FM. I was like "who be this one". "Shebi he no no say I no send am, the wahala I get pass all this him fine boy shakara he dey showcase". He no send me, me self no send am. Then I saw his long nails, what! oga what the hell are you doing with a Long nail? That's the first thing I said to him, then I saw his Facebook account with over 1,000 friend requests pending. I was like "what is even your own self. How can you leave over 1,000 friends request pending, you are too full of yourself" I thought.

Daniel Akpata and his wife Ikana

Then he turned for the first time and looked at me, he said something I will never forget. He said to me "I SEE SO MUCH PAIN AND HURTS IN YOUR EYES, YOU WANNA SHARE WITH ME?"! Really, that was ice-breaking! He could see beyond my beautiful and 'gragra'! He was the first person who actually wanted to hear me and also help me. I was teary but relieved. I was ready to share for the first time everything I have gone through all my life. When his shift ended, we took a walk to the restaurant to talk about everything. For the first time, I felt I was with the right person to unburden without being judged. I told him EVERYTHING ABOUT ME! I MEAN EVERYTHING! THE GOOD! THE BAD AND THE UGLY! I told him everything in case he is interested in me. So he knows I was a handful yet blessed. I told him my dreams and aspirations, My vision and purpose. My strengths and weaknesses and WHO I AM!

Daniel and Ikana Akpata

For hours he listened with tears in his eyes, he didn't interrupt me. I saw a man cry for my pains, I felt his genuine love towards me. He looked me straight in the eyes and Said "I WANT TO MARRY YOU!." In the name of God do not mock me, sir, after everything you heard, you want to mock me. He looked me in the eyes and said again "I MEAN WHAT I JUST SAID!, I will not give up on you, I have prayed to marry a woman like you." How on earth will someone pray to marry a woman like me?. I told him I wasn't interested, I needed time to heal. He promised to help me heal first, before anything. Then he gave me his number. I dial the number and it turned out I had the number already and he is THE LOVE DOCTOR! I was a fan of his show, SOMETHING FOR SINGLES! Hell no! This guy want. to chop and go. I will not accept it, he has a sweet mouth.

Ikana and Daniel Akpata

Let me stop here! We can all guess what happened. But if you all want me to continue, I will gladly continue this story! I love you all.

Daniel and ikana Akpata with their daughter Daniella

You may want to ask, what is divine direction?

Divine direction is receiving and acting in full obedience to the directive of the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit is our comforter, guide and counsellor. Do not hesitate to seek help from God whenever you need it because he will surely send his angels to help you.

Fela Durotoye; success Story and biography

Fela Durotoye; success Story and biography
Mr Nigeria; Fela Durotoye

Adetokunbo Olufela Durotoye is a business consultant, speaker and leadership expert. He is the Chief Executive Officer of GEMSTONE GROUP; a leadership development institution. A non-governmental organization with a distinct mandate to raise a generation of leaders that are empowered and motivated to operate with Nation excellence.

Fela durotoye; a business consultant, leadership expert and motivational speaker. How did Fela durotoye make it?

Just like you and I, Fela durotoye has gone through hard times. Life is a journey that everyone must travel, it is filled with ups and downs and some inevitable pains. Fela Durotoye is a man of vision that values growth. His success and achievements started from somewhere.

He once shared this as a post on his Instagram page. He shared a powerful throwback photo from when he and his wife walked down the aisle in 2001. He made it clear that their beginning wasn't a smooth sail.

The post says; our wedding (2001), we had 40 guests attending for obvious reasons. I got married to my wife(Tara Durotoye) in 2001, living in a one-room in Lagos. I was 30 years old and had started my firm V.I.P CONSULTING from my room; where I had a bed(covering a hole in my rug), a wastebasket and a chair.

My wife(Tara Durotoye) had to go to her parent's house every day to take a bath because she couldn't use our community toilet and bathroom. And that is where our dreams began(a one-room apartment).

Fela Durotoye, the founder of GEMSTONE GROUP

We've been through so much and have come so far solely by the grace of God and a determined work ethic.

So wherever you might be in your life today, even if your life seems as bleak as this wedding picture of ours, know that God hasn't even gotten started with you. God bless you.

Fela Durotoye once works as a financial analyst at Ventures & Trusts Limited in 1992. He was the head of the customer service department at Phillips Consulting Limited in 1998. Fela Durotoye facilitates and speaks at management and leadership retreats across, within and outside Nigeria.

While contesting for office, Fela said "it is not easy to run for office", but added that, "the best way to serve his nation's interest is to do so from the nation's highest office". After several months, he chose Khadijah Abdullahi-Iya to be his running mate(vice-president). She has been a successful social entrepreneur.

REV. SAM ADEYEMI'S SUCCESS STORY

REV. SAM ADEYEMI'S SUCCESS STORY

Rev Sam Adeyemi praying

The success story of Reverend Sam Adeyemi is an inspiring and interesting one. This is how he narrated his story:

“I can still remember clearly, I felt like my ministry was stagnated and things were not moving for me. So I decided to pray. I remember that day in April 1994, my wife and I went to Lekki beach, fasting and to pray. I was praying, asking God about the next level, where do I go from here?” God spoke to me and asked me to continue with the prayer and fasting. After days, He said I should stop the fasting but go ahead with the prayer and I obeyed."

“Sometime in July that year, the Lord spoke to me clearly one morning that He was going to take me to the next level of ministry, to teach Biblical success principles. He said I would not be able to do the things He wanted me to do in my former pastorate, because He was asking me to teach success on radio, television, tapes, publications and seminars. In addition, I was to establish a church that would help people discover and release their potentials. I got the vision for Success Power International and Daystar Christian Centre on the same day. I remember I called a group of people, just a few friends and shared the vision with them."

“I started first on radio. Later, I began to talk to a few people about the church aspect of the vision. On November 18, 1995, Daystar Christian Centre was inaugurated. The inauguration was an interesting period in that we didn’t have the required resources and we could not afford the type of accommodation we were getting. Hotels, banquet halls or some duplexes were between N200,000 and N250,000 per annum and they wanted us to pay for two years."

“We were about taking one small place on the street we lived, then we stopped because we had serious doubt in our heart. Eventually, the inauguration was held at Eko Chinese Restaurant on Allen Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos, on the fourth floor."

Rev Sam Adeyemi

“Interestingly, I was carrying along my radio audience, telling them about the transition of my life. We had quite a large crowd that day. Long after that, it became a bit tough to pay the bills. I was on radio, paying N7,000 every week for the 15 minutes broadcast and then we were paying N13,000 per week for the use of the restaurant. Then, the radio station doubled the rate for the broadcast and we couldn’t cope. We took broadcast off Raypower  to OGBC2. We needed some breathing space, so we could keep on the church. However, we couldn’t afford to pay for the restaurant too regularly. I remember clearly, the day I got to church in the morning and met my workers outside. They told me they had not been allowed into the hall. I went in and spoke to the manager, who was playing games with his friends in the hall we were supposed to use for our service. I told him to let us run the service and pay him afterwards with the offering but he declined."

“Eventually, we reached a compromise. Our service was between 9 and 11am, but said he would take his money at 10am. I felt once we had started the service, he won’t be able to stop us. Ten minutes to 10am, an usher came with a message that a man was threatening to shut down the generating set. Rather than take offerings at the end of the service, I took over and took the offerings and quickly paid him. After three months, we knew we had to move. We then moved to Coker Village, Alausa, Lagos which was mistaken for the one in Iganmu area of Lagos. When people wanted to come to our church in taxies, they took them somewhere else in Lagos. It was so remote. It was a dirty environment. Each time I went to church, it was muddy all around and people sharing the building with us would sometimes play loud music during our service and we would plead with them to stop."

"I dreamt one Saturday morning that we moved into a new location. I saw us dedicating a building. I saw Bishop Oyedepo and his wife planting a tree in the place. It had fresh leaves and while he pronounced blessings, I saw people rush to that location. There was a large crowd within a few minutes and then we were through with the occasion."

"When I woke up, I knew it was a vision from God. I asked God how do we turn this into reality. He asked for three weeks of prayer and fasting. We obeyed. Few days before the end of the fast, we saw, ‘To Let’ on a warehouse on 71, Oregun Road (now Kudirat Abiola Way). That was how we got our present church office."

MORE ABOUT THE SUCCESS OF REV. SAM ADEYEMI, the founder of Daystar Christian Centre which is located at Ikosi Road, Lagos.

More about the success story of Sam Adeyemi

The ministry started five services within a short period when it first started. Fellowship exploded, attendance increased, financial resources also increased astronomically. The church is now worth over 2 billion Naira. Its core strength lies in leadership development and training.

What really shot the ministry into limelight was Success Power, an outstanding motivational programme on radio and television. The messages are tailored to mold and influence attitudes and perception with a view to enhancing productivity. It has followership of an average of five million. There are three categories of partners. The Royal Class are partners who make a minimum contribution of N200 monthly. The Gold Class make a monthly contribution of N2,000. The Corporate Class is for organizations and they contribute N20,000 monthly. This is different from the donations made by individuals and corporate citizens. The Success Power Ministry brings in an average of 10 million Naira every month.

He also has another ministry(Daystar Academy). This is the resource development school of the church. The school has five levels and each addresses different needs and purposes. The levels are graduated from 100 to 500. The school runs in session of five weeks and holiday for three weeks each. The directorate is headed by John Afolabi. The ministry is largely responsible for training role models. They equally run discipleship programmes. Due to the large number of students, the school nets in excess of 200 million Naira per annum.

Also, The Real Women Foundation is a registered non-governmental organization dedicated to supporting the emotional, spiritual and physical needs of specific women and children groups. The ministry provides rehabilitation facilities for women and children with a history of abuse and neglect. The ministry spends as much as 20 million Naira per annum on the needy.

Furthermore, Pneuma Publishing Limited is an information resource management company duly registered by the ministry in 1995 under the Corporate Acts Commission of Nigeria. It was pioneered by the Managing Director, Pastor (Mrs.) Nike Adeyemi. The business was established just for the passion for books and information. She started by selling local and foreign books that had aided her growth and development while growing up. This, she did, within the living room, through encouragement from her husband, Rev. Sam Adeyemi, who later wrote the book, Start With What You Have. Then, a shop was acquired simultaneously as Sam Adeyemi’s published books and audio messages which later became best sellers. Pneuma Publishing House became the sole publisher of Adeyemi’s books which rakes in a monthly income of 10 million Naira.

The ministry is also blessed with Daystar Leadership Academy which is a leadership/management development school. It was established in January 2002. The school runs the basic and advance certificate courses in leadership. The school has turned out over 6,000 graduates since inception. It has a reputation of equipping CEOs, entrepreneurs, employees of various cadre, students, etc. The ministry is worth 100 million Naira.

The Young Female Reporter

The Young Female Reporter

Inspirational short stories with lessons; How to achieve your aim and desires

In 1995, I granted an interview with a newspaper in Singapore. The young female reporter was on time, and the interview got underway immediately. We sat in the lobby of a luxurious hotel, sipping coffee and discussing the purpose of my visit to Singapore. I was to share the platform with Zig Ziglar. He was speaking on motivation, and I was speaking on "The Secrets of the Rich."

"Someday, I would like to be a best-selling author like you," she said.

I had seen some of the articles she had written for the paper, and I was impressed. She had a tough, clear style of writing. Her articles held a reader's interest. "You have a great style," I said in reply.  "What holds you back from achieving your dream?"

"My work does not seem to go anywhere," she said quietly. "Everyone says that my novels are excellent, but nothing happens.  So I keep my job with the paper. At least it pays the bills. Do you have any suggestions?"

"Yes, I do," I said brightly.  "A friend of mine here in Singapore runs a school that trains people to sell. He runs sales-training courses for many of the top corporations here in Singapore, and I think attending one of his courses would greatly enhance your career."

She stiffened.  "Are you saying I should go to school to learn to sell?"

I nodded.

"You aren't serious, are you?"

Again, I nodded.  "What is wrong with that?" I was now back peddling. She was offended by something, and now I was wishing 11 had not said anything. In my attempt to be helpful, I found myself defending my suggestion.

"I have a master's degree in English Literature. Why would I go to school to learn to be a salesperson? I am a professional. I went to school to be trained in a profession so I would not have to be a salesperson. I hate salespeople. All they want is money. So tell me why| I should study sales?" She was now packing her briefcase forcibly. The interview was over.

On the coffee table sat a copy of an earlier best-selling book I wrote. I picked it up as well as the notes she had jotted down on her legal pad. "Do you see this?" I said pointing to her notes.

She looked down at her notes.  "What," she said, confused.

Again, I pointed deliberately to her notes.  On her pad, she had written "Robert Kiyosaki, best-selling author." "It says 'best-selling author,' not best 'writing' author." Her eyes widened immediately.

"I am a terrible writer. You are a great writer. I went to sales school. You have a master's degree. Put them together and you get a 'best-selling author' and a 'best-writing author."

Anger flared from her eyes. "I'll never stoop so low as to learn how to sell. People like you have no business writing. I am a professionally trained writer and you are a salesman. It is not fair."

The rest of her notes were put away, and she hurried out through the large glass doors into the humid Singapore morning.

At least she gave me a fair and favourable write-up the next morning.

As narrated by Robert T. Kiyosaki (Author of Rich Dad Poor Dad)

Lessons from the story

1. Be open to learning

2. Don't be offended by good advice, rather think about the lessons

3. Great talent is not enough, learn as much as you can.

How to achieve your aim, goals, and desires

Everything in life is all about the decision. If you win, it is as a result of your decision. And if you lose, it is the outcome of your decisions as well. Read on How-to- be-more_productive

  1. Be teachable: If you want to be successful, you must keep growing. The best way to achieve your aim is to make yourself a continual learner. ''It is what you learn after you know it all that counts" ___John Wooden
  2. Build a great interest in learning things that will help you achieve your aims: Learning is not an activity that has a climax, it Is a lifelong pursuit. Your ego is the first thing you need to deal with if you ever want to be teachable. Feeling superior will never help matters because there is a thing you can learn from everyone whether young or old. Pride leads to a loss of desire to learn and an unwillingness to change. Pride often makes a person unteachable. And if you ever want to accomplish your aim, you must become teachable. Learn to listen to instructions, listen more than you talk. Listen openly for the truth, do not act defensive when criticized. never skip the learning process.
  3. Be disciplined: Discipline can be defined as making yourself do something when you could be doing something more pleasant. Start by taking small activities to make things better. Then you can be increasing the speed as you go on. Do the things that hurt you less, so as not to feel discouraged at first. Push yourself into discomfort a little bit, so you can get better at this over time.
    If not now when?

  4. Develop the habit of following decisions promptly: Don't try to back up your mistakes with a formidable array of excuses. A disciplined person won't neglect any issue that needs attention. "Discipline is doing what you really don't want to do so you can do what you really want to do." ___Jeff Fisher
    Begin and grow
    Source: Unsplash

  5. Work on your mindset: Make personal development a priority for yourself. This may take a little time because every individual is a product of nature and nurture. The beliefs and notions that every individual grew up with will surely affect the mindset. Your hands will only reach the things that you believe is possible. Doubts and false ideas can prevent anyone from achieving his aim.
    Develop your mindset
    Source: Unsplash

  6. Look at issues with a positive perception: Don't be an agent of doom. Instead of talking about why it cannot be done, think of ways it can be done. Your mind is the greatest tool that can help you achieve your aim. Work more on feeding it with information that will make it grow from a chicken mindset to a lion's mindset. Picture whatever you want in your mind and back it up with steadfast faith. The first determinant of your success is the mind. Once you can overcome the negative of your desire, you are 99% to getting it.
  7. Be hungry for more: The greatest threat to being all you could be is satisfaction with who you are. Back to the story above, the young female reporter said "...so I keep my job with the paper, at least it pays the bills." It shows clearly that her desire to become a bestselling author didn't consume her. She just wants to play it safe. Although she was a great writer she lacks the right things to move to the next stage. She said, "everyone says that my novels are ex excellent, but nothing happens." If she wants something to happen, she must have a burning desire to achieve her aim. And if you have previous achievements, don't rely on your laurels. "Do not fear failure but rather fear not trying" ___Roy T. Bennett
    You said tomorrow yesterday_image
    Source: Unsplash

  8. Be specific: Let your aim or goals be clear. Don't say, "I just want to make it." Pinpoint the exact thing you want. The goal statement should indicate what should be accomplished. It should be phrased using action words like "sell," "save, " "create," "build," "implement,"). If the goal is measurable and specific, you can determine if you have accomplished it. If the goal is accomplished, the project is a success. Suppose your objective is to raise capital for your proposed business. An example of a specific goal to help you meet this objective is: "I will save 240 dollars in two months by saving 4 dollars every day for 60 days.
  9. Have a definite plan and deadline: You need to map out the exact way you want to do it. The step by step guides should be written down. And most importantly, create a deadline for that plan. Procrastination is one of the greatest causes of failure. Most times, it is not a lack of knowledge or skill that causes disappointment. It is a lack of focus and inability to make a prompt decision.
Persist_a girl standing by a beautiful painting

  10. Persist: It is pertinent to understand that despite your great courage and hard work, you may need to 'refire.' The exact result you desire may not appear immediately. That should never be an excuse to stop shaking the tree of life. Persist and you will surely get down the fruit unheard of. If you keep trying, you will learn, grow and as well be whatever you want to be. If Micheal Jordan had stopped at the sight of failure when he first attempts basketball, He won't be noticed or ever called a great basketball player. He said;

"I can accept failure, everyone fails at something but I cannot accept not trying" ___Micheal Jordan

Mary Daniels; The Amputee Hawker's Story and how her lies were unleashed.

Mary Daniels; The Amputee Hawker's Story and how her lies were unleashed

Real-life stories with lessons - Be honest

Mary Daniel narrated that when she was 10 years, she and her parents decided to travel to their hometown (Ayingba in Kogi State) to spend the Christmas holiday. As a child, her ambition was to become a lawyer when she grew up. She was in Primary four when her beautiful hopes were dashed in December 2006 on the highway.

During the journey, the driver drove with a suicidal speed and brought the journey to a fatal end. Mary’s parents died in the accident. She was the only one who survived the accident. She survived with a badly broken right leg that had to be eventually chopped off.

"Doctors said I would die if it was not cut,” she remarked.

A dark feeling of uselessness may have enfolded her but she had a grandmother to hold on to. Her grandmother took her to the village in Kogi State. Months after her leg healed, Daniel reawakened her dying dreams. She returned to school. But just when she thought she was on the right track to success, another bombshell dropped.

“I dropped out at JSS 3,” she said. “I was going to school on a government scholarship but they stopped paying my fees. That was 2014.”

Thereon, she sought solace in hawking, moving from Anambra to Delta and then Lagos.

When Mary turned 20 the grandmother gave her away in marriage to a man who said he loved her. It was as if she received a favour but that didn’t happen. She got pregnant with this man and when the baby was born he denied being responsible for the pregnancy. This left Mary in a dilemma.

Out of shame, she relocated to Asaba (Delta State) and continued hawking sachet water. She squatted with a woman in her village for some months before she rented an apartment.

“A car brushed my arm while I was hawking in traffic. I was heavily pregnant then. A man saw me bleeding and gave me N100,000. I used the money to rent a small apartment and bought some baby things. I gave birth in 2019.” she said

She only had a two-week ‘maternity leave’ before she returned to the streets, manoeuvring the traffic to sell water with her baby strapped to the back.

She decided to move to Lagos afterwards because she was not selling well in Asaba. She sold her home appliances to raise the fare. Her daughter is with the woman she lived with in Asaba. She is now in Ayingba with her baby. Her grandmother didn’t know she has moved to Lagos.

“I hawk in traffic around Terminal 1, Bolade and markets around Oshodi, l wait for traffic to be standstill and dash to the road to sell to passengers, I will recede to the roadside once the traffic eases off and returns immediately there is another standstill. It is stressful but I use drugs in the evening to kill pains,” she said.

She sleeps on the balcony and passage of a house, a storey building on Suwebatu Street. She hardly sleeps at night because of mosquitoes.

As she was doing this quick business of selling bottled water from street to street in the Oshodi area. Fortune found her. A man called Mr Ibitoye Ayodele Adeniyi met her in Oshodi, took her picture and posted it on his Facebook page. Her story, the pathetic story of an amputated orphan with a two-year-old baby and an aged grandmother to take care of that ekes out a living by pounding the streets of Lagos daily and selling bottled water went viral.

There are lots of beggars in most cities in Nigeria shooting their hands out with begging bowls to passers-by soliciting for alms. Mary Daniels didn’t want to be one of them.

“I don’t like begging because I believe I have the strength to work and cater for myself. I know I am not lazy and I took the decision not to beg. Some people out of pity will give me N1,000 or N2,000 after buying water from me,” she said.

Nigerians with the gift of human kindness are donating money to her generously.

The Lagos State Government through the Office of Civic Engagement has offered her accommodation and other forms of assistance.

Mary Daniels; the amputee hawker's story appeared to be false.

Following her painful stories that went viral on social media, Nigerians started donating money through her bank account made public with about N25m raised.

This spurred the state government to immediately protect her to avoid criminals from taking advantage of her sudden fortune.

After few days, a celebrity birthday party was held in her honour featuring many cakes, fanfare, photoshoots, among others.

All was going well for the young lady until the state government discovered that her father was alive. Although her mother is dead but it wasn't through an auto crash. It was also detected she was amputated from birth.

The Lagos state governor; Babajide Sanwo-Olu immediately handed her over to officials of social welfare for investigation following revelations that her case was staged.

Mary Daniels was receiving strange calls from those who staged her story with threats to reveal the truth unless she gave them their share of the money.

It was learnt Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu handed her over to officials of welfare in the presence of the police and some Kogi leaders, who attested her father was alive.

Mary daniels was put in the custody of officials of Social Welfare. The police were there but she was not handed over to them. There were irregularities and lies in the account of her life she gave.

It was discovered that contrary to her claim that her parents died during an accident that left her amputated, it was discovered that her father is very much alive and that she was amputated from birth.

It was also discovered that her presence in Oshodi was staged. Those working with her played on the intelligence of Nigerians to get donations for her.

The truth was unleashed when the people started threatening her. She promised some 500,000 Naira, others different amounts and was planning to return to her home state when the information leaked.

Some days later, The cat was let out of the bag when it was discovered that the story must have been fabricated following strange calls that she had continued receiving from a team who were instrumental to her fortune in Lagos.

It was revealed that the amputee was not telling a true story about herself and the life she had been living before donations from the public and help from the state government came her way.

The governor of Lagos State. Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has directed the relevant ministry to hand over the matter to the state Police Command for further investigation.

Lessons from the story

1. Do not deceive people

2. The truth can never be hidden

3. Be honest, no matter your condition.

A  Yiddish proverb says “A half-truth is a whole lie.”

“Honesty is more than not lying. It is truth-telling, truth speaking, truth living, and truth loving.” ___James E Faust

Trying to scale through life through manipulation or dishonesty is a bad thing. No matter how late it is, the truth will someday be revealed. The great leader Martin Luther King Jr. Says " A lie cannot live." Yes! A lie cannot stand the test of time.

Lies can be in a different form. It can be in a story form, a product, a service or even an agreement or promise. But if you ever want to live a peaceful life. Live a life of integrity.
